Its readily apparent that Cosmic shame only watched it in slow motion and only saw it after greens had already touched it once.

Dempsey shot that at an angle from behind a defender. Blocking Greens view of the ball until the last second. That ball was a rocket. He just couldnt get centered on it in time. Getting 1 hand on the ball was awesome for what it was. If Dempsey had not kicked it as hard as he did it wouldnt have rebounded like that. Says a lot about his kick.

You must be kidding. That was as routine a save as a goalie will EVER see at that level. Routine. 25 yards out, the ball was not struck that hard and he had plenty of time to get in position.

So much emphasis is put on that shot. I think its kinda funny. The whole 90 minutes were full of awful gameplay.

I think Dempsey meant more that it was a trickling goal instead of a straight in shot. Still was a great shot. If he'd shot it any lighter I dont think it would have had that ricochet.

I wanted Findley out the whole game in for Buddle. Hopefully he will start this time and findley can sit.

Clark? Anyone see Clark that whole game? I think they should consider a 4-3-3 and put Gomez in as a floating mid/striker with the potential to run up.

Maybe sub Onyewu out for Goodson.

Heinz (new nickname for you bro) and I were discussing subs a lot during the match. Our mid and defense were fine, with the exception that we could have used a DM becuase there was too much crap getting in the box, especially when England changed their formation. So maybe something a bit more liberal like a 4-1-2-2-1. I mean I doubt Bradley would use a complex formation like that, but even changing the positioning slightly in a 4-3-3 (as stated above) would make sense. We were letting too many 1-2 passes in the middle of the field.

Found it funny we tried to bring in Gomez to milk the clock out during stoppage time.

FYI, We sucked today.. What a terrible game that was and we needed a stupid goal to get some play going on.. Our finest moments were close to what should be our worst, no.. We are far from there yet, but.... Italy played a 1-1 and that makes me smile a bit!

Brazil vs PRK was pretty solid. Brazil brought out the best in PRK for sure. after watching a boring/uneventful portugal vs ivory coast, i can see prk going ahead in this over both. would be hilarious.

real good manner from both teams and friendly. port/civ was dirty because they knew they were trying to play for second and it was an important game.

Germany is my pick for winning it. There is no team to penetrate that Defense. Spain cant do it because its David Villa on his own. Torres is still not where he needs to be at. I will be surprised if he starts since the last 2 games he was pulled off at the 58th and 55th minute.
Netherlands have Sneijder/Robben/Van Persey with van Bommel. Van Bommel should have been ejected from last game for all his fouls. But surprisingly none of his 10+ fouls were carded. Regardless its going to be heavy reliance on their 2 strikers.

I'm of course disregarding Uruguay completely from beating Netherlands because they lost Suarez. Forlan cant do it on his own. Even though I hate Suarez for being a diving son of a bitch that should have been off the field long ago, he was a strong striker when he actually stood on his feet. His handball should have him whipped. Ghana deserved that win and its a bullshit call to pull it. In basketball when that happens its called Goal tending and the point counts. Shameful to not let it in when thats all that was stopping their victory.

Anyways its going to be Germany v Netherlands in the finals unless a miracle happens.

Germany on top with Spain in 3rd.

Besides some ridiculous fouls, that ref had a real hand of pulling a card whenever he saw a Dutch player.. Sure, we deserved some, but Spain got away with so much and even full schwalbes.. omg.. what a bs game that was.

No Spain did not deserve to win considering the off side on their attack, but.. we didn't score when we could nor was it a proper match.

Its over :( My bracket choice of Spain won, but my heart's team for excitement got 3rd. Netherlands pulled a strong 2nd thanks to the efforts of Sneijder's 5 goals and Robben's 2.
I think the whole tourney would have been a tad different with Robben and Torres fully healthy. Michael Ballack for Germany probably wouldnt have made much of a difference since he was healthy in 2006 and was still a snoozefest for them. Essian for, I believe, Ghana would have been a HUGE addition to Gyan. I think they'd have gone farther with him. As well as Drogba for Ivory Coast.

I watched a TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON of games. And since they're all online it'll take me a while to figure out just which games I missed so I can go back and try and watch them all.

Cheers. Another four years we'll be back for more and USA can act like they care about football for a few weeks before we get knocked out again.

BTW freaky, iniesta was 3 yards on sides for his goal. No chance of off sides.

The worst call of the match was not giving Puyol a yellow/red for fouling Robben. Mainly because he called a yellow at the other end.

Officiating was fair for once. Yellow card count was almost equal (7 Ned, 5 Spain). There were too many late tackles and amateur plays. This beats the 1986 finals record of 6 yellows.....by 2x. Not a beautiful game by any means. Dreadfully boring to see a game go to 119 minutes 0-0. Uruguay v Germany was an intense battle ending 3-2 with great both sides.

This game was.....Netherlands trying their hardest to not let Spain get their normal snoozefest/strategic ball control going on. Ned harassed the ball of Spain just like Spain did to Germany to upset their normal game. This worked for the entire game. Ball control was 43% Ned, 57% Spa. Instead of the normal 60%+ by Spain.

Robben had multiple chances to score 1on1 with the goalie and it just didnt happen. Sneijder didnt get any of his normal 30 yard shots in. The shots on goal was very low at 5 (NED), and 6 (SPA). This means that D is very strong and O is very weak.

One of the most boring matches of the tournament, but really almost all of Spain's matches were incredibly boring. They really really really really needed Torres to be healthy for it to be more entertaining. Villa and Torres both striking would have been an intense battle. But it wasnt. It was Villa doing it all on goals. Xavi was the playmaker for the most part in middle and Iniesta playmaking once it got past middle. No better team in the world at passing. But passing does not make an entertaining game.
