I was playing earlier with a public game so that people would join and some guy came in with a level 1677 character. It was insane.
Makes me want to just play with people from here lol.

Yea, the game is easy to hack. Your character is just a text file.

VERY easy to do
Borderlands pc save editor - Facepunch
works for PC and Xbox versions of the game.
just don't abuse it because it can totally ruin the gameplay experience....or if your like me and just want to see how powerful you can get, throw on the editor and change up some stats. you can always undo your changes and go back. I don't go play online though because that's just lame to ruin other ppls' game too. I'm playing through it on single player w/ moded stats. there is also are guides online to help mod your game so you have like 65k spots for items ;)

Wow, that's kinda ghey. There's really no point in playing if you're gonna just hack your character. I wish they would enforce legit characters online at least...

They should really find a way of banning people from online if they use this online. That is really horrible that its that easy.

well they would need another way to save the file. the reason its like that (char file saved on your machine) is because the devs wanted players to be able to play alone (single player) then still be able to transition that character online seamlessly. so they cant save your characters file somewhere online because you need to be able to access it even when you play single player offline. so they would need to release a patch that saves the char file in some other format that isnt easily viewable with like notepad and wordpad so people cant just tweak values and buff their character. possibly encrypt it and change that encryption key every sec\min\hour\day so that the only way you can play online is if the char .sav file can be validated online before you play. this way if you change the file in anyway, the file wont decrypt correctly when you connect online and thus stops the hackers from playing online. (unless they can get the key of course but that would be more work than its worth)

There is a ton of trainers out there that can give you whatever you want. From level up, unlimited ammo, unlimited health, all the skill points you want and you can use them online because of the way the game is set up. There's no online protection from this. But I think that is shit because it takes the fun out of the whole game.

By the end of my first playthrough, I was lvl 37 with some really good weapons. Starting zone enemies on playthrough 2 are lvl 32. Don't need no stinkin' cheats for this game :P
