So Rift comes out soon. I know some of you are MMO people so I figured I would drop what info about the game I have. We(Zero, Gixxer, and I) have been beta testing it for awhile now and it seems to be a solid enough game. It's pretty fun, and the ability to build a rather unique character is unequaled so far out of any of the MMO's I've played.
That being said there is about 5 people who will be playing with me on release. We will be making a little mock guild for organizational, and buff reasons. We will be going by the title "Puppies & Kittens" (You will be afraid!!) We will prolly be playing on a PvP server so anyone who wants in is welcome to give me a hollar and hook up with us in game.

The uniqueness of building a character was pretty cool. But the game was pretty sub par for me. They had some things from Wow and WAR. but what really turned this game off for me was the Pvp. It was just very ugly for me, In warhammer beta, the pvp was way better than this game in its beta. To each his own, I'll be skipping this one.

Hrmmm I find that curious. I found the PvP a little more refreshing than War. I though WAR tried to put to much in, siege stuff was worthless, tanks could sit there and take more Damage than a whole group could deal out without a healer. I though it was just...urg. At least I felt in this game there was a counter for just about every class. *Shrugs*
As you said, to each their own :-)

Hedge: How long did it take you to build your character? I've heard some people will spend a lot of time on their character then realize quickly that they have a real cool character in a game they dont like.
Sounds like you like it which is cool. Is it $15/mo?
Leveling seems a bit faster than WoW/WAR. You can hit 20 in 2-3 days with max lvl being 50. Also the soul system allows you to change your spec at anytime. If you find you dont like your char, you can just respec to any other of the 9 soulds for your class. Only if you want another class would you need to re roll.
We were playing on Seastone too

Yes we were all on sea stone! hahah
Eh it didn't take me to long to build the char at all. Zero was pretty dead on with his estimate. Leveling up was pretty fast, they don't make it hard to get your traveling items. And you can modifiy your own UI in the game virtiually anyway you want. I have to say the game is damn well done for one thats not even out yet.
That being said, I do have to caution some people. I don't see playing this game for an extended period of time. I will spend a few months in it at least. Or untill Starwars comes out. But there are plenty of other good games comeing out between then and we will see. Our only goal is to have a good time well we can.
Yes its 15$ a month, but if you buy 3 or 6 months prepaid now you can get it for like 10 bucks a month.

I also wanted to add, if we pick anyone up in game that isn't in EX we will prolly just point em this way if they want a gaming community. We are setting up a little BS page to help along with the whole Puppies and kittens BS to help make people laugh and rage at us :-) But its all the point really is!

i've been in debates about picking this game up, i've played both WoW/WAR but im much more of a PvP'er than much else, I have no problem with leveling in wow so I don't have much of an issue there, but what fun PvP things would I have to look forward to in Rift?

Let me put it this way:
In the 25(27?)+ levelling zones, they pretty much throw both factions into the same levelling spots. GANKING EVERYWHERE!
And if you feel adventurous, you can just run into a faction-owned area during a rift invasion and cause chaos everywhere.

Well bot, the level 1-5 zone is instanced to prevent griefing. Level 5 to 19 zone you can flag PvP if you like. Its optional. After that the rest of the zones are all PvP flagged. There really isn't as much griefing as he lets on...I ran across 1 guy myself, and gix ran across one guy himself.
To explain a rift event...the story is basically the fabric of reality is tearing..and invasions from the different realms are trying to gain a foot hold on the plane of existence. (Fire, water, life, death, earth, air and what not) They will randomly pop up and form a Rift, invasions will spawn out of the rifts and attack player towns and quest areas. Basically its up to the players to put these down, or else you don't get to quest. On top of that they tend to drop other collectable items and loot for your char. You get a currency as well to buy stuff from vendors. Raid bosses will on occasion spawn and attack a zone as well, this is up to everyone to take down.
PvP is the same way you can get loot, good exp, and rep points to spend on PvP classes you can buy, loot, or other stuff.

Yeah, you don't run into them that often until you get to Scarwood (atleast I had a lot of run ins anyways). But still, if you're bored and want to get your pvp on, you can just run straight to the other side of the map and start ganking random people of the opposite faction
