So while TF2 may take the majority of my gaming attention, there is a small part of me that is still lured by the grind....
Anyone know of (preferably free) MMORPGs that may hold my attention at least for a little bit?

For a little bit, I recommended Cabal.
It has a nice atmosphere, nice people, good music, overall a 9.2/10

This might be up your alley (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/north-american-blade-soul/59532).
Not sure about a release date, but it's very definitely a Korean MMO... and we all know how those go :P

Aion was really fun, but it was just too much of a grind after lvl 17 for me to take the time to play it. I've always enjoyed Everquest II, it's solid and mature. I flirted with WAR, which is like wow but different, in a good way, never stayed with it. Age of Conan is an interesting alternative too, played a good bit of that... i've played most MMOs, including WoW :P If you have specific questions about one game, I can probably answer them. So many MMOs... (many more than listed...) wasted youth!

I'm definitely looking forward to Star Wars: KOTOR and Guild Wars 2. I got a poster signed by an Aion developer who came out from Korea at PAX in early September, lol.

blade and soul looks pretty cool. From the preview it looks very pvp friendly.
