I just realized that I may never get all the pins/insignias :(
one of the insignias is Distinguished Retaliation Combat which requires 5 Nemesis Pins and 5 Payback pins. I have the 5 nemisis pins (kill an enemy 5 times) but payback is to kill your nemesis....the problem is...I never die enough to have a nemesis :(
even if I were to die alot in a round, it would be even less likely that it is just to a single enemy....
dammit.
guess that one is going to have to be farmed ;)

should have been available to everyone by this morning (yesterday night even)
I haven't seen the update release notes for this newest update so I don't know if they actually nerf'd it.

good they need to bring down the power of the 1911 way 2 overpowered for a pistol, its .45 not a .50 calibre sniper rifle which sometimes i forget which is which cuz i get sniped across the map with a 45 pistol all the time

yes it does.
there's a chart I posted somewhere showing all damage for all weapons at varying distances. after a certain distance though, it will do the same damage so say after 200 feet, it will do the same damage at 250ft as it does at 1000ft. I'll look for that chart again.

I'm curious, does anyone else have their VO setting set to localized so that anytime the in-game characters talk, it's in the language you know?
so even if I'm on the russian team, when a teammate calls for ammo, health or just talks, I'll always hear it in english.

BF2 had that option and it worked, but I didn't really care to use it. I'd rather hear the different language as another way to distinguish friend/enemy.

reason why i dont do it is cuz i dont care what they are saying, all i know is if im american and i hear some dude speakin russian i know that he needs to get killed, when u change the sound like that it gets rid of that

doesnt work both ways, if ur russian u will hear people speaking english and if ur american u will hear the russians speak english

also while i'm askin crap, natron mentioned this morning a program that does mouse smoothing and also changes the russians voices to an 'accented' voice so you can tell they are russians, but still understand them.

I think when you do that, they use the same voices. You can't tell if its a Russian or American speaking, if I understand correctly. The mod Natron was talking about, the russians speak english, but with an accent. *shrug*

even though nvidia already allows you to play it in 3D, guess this patch would be for people who don't use video card hardware to render 3D. doing it through BC2 is probably going to destroy CPUs...hope this patch at least offloads that calculation to GPUs. (I won't play in 3D for this game, too much going on....TF2 on the other hand plays amazing in 3D)

The Balance tweaks are as follows:
Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.

the real issue at hand after this update is released is:
Server - Initial spawn delay and respawn delay are adjustable
are we going to put the initial spawn back to 0 (or whatever the minimum is) to allow ppl with awesome computers to get in faster?
and are we going to put the respawn delay at it's mimium? I hope this one is left at default because sometimes it's already hard enough to plant at the last set of mcoms never mind when the defense is spawning super fast :D lol instant respawn could be cool in conquest, but for rush it might be....devastating :D

New update.
All Weapons Bronze Insignia requiring an unobtainable bronze star for the tracer dart – requirement removed.
Improved Hit registration made through several fixes and some of the hitboxes themselves have been changed. This will increase the accuracy of guns.
Blue box chat window removed
The 2 second immunity when spawning/being revived will now be immediately removed either by firing, zooming, or any movement (move, crouch, jump). A Spawning Player can still orient passively in the Game World..
3D vision fixed.
Fixed slug shotgun zoom crosshair on PC so they better represent the long range accuracy. Crosshairs now close more on PC, similar to consoles.
Reduced slug shotgun hip accuracy to require zooming for consistent long range accuracy. Hip accuracy is now on par with the semi automatic weapons.
Fixed a bug on PC where the G3 would do less damage than intended.
Fixed VADS turning sensitivity on PC so it performs like the ZU23.
Reduced VADS push back and damage to balance it with the ZU23.
Fixed a bug where vehicle countermeasures would fail to remove tracer darts at high speed.
Reduced the reload time for vehicle countermeasures.
Slightly increased the AT4's damage vs armor to emphasize its anti vehicle role while keeping it balanced vs armor.
Increased the AT4's top speed and acceleration so users spend less time exposed when firing.
Increased the AT4's splash damage so it competes with other AT weapons vs infantry. The AT4 still has the least splash damage of all AT weapons.
Reduced the splash damage of the Carl Gustav to bring it in line with other explosive weapons. The Carl Gustav still has the most splash damage of all AT weapons.
Increased the 1 shot kill range of the M95 body shot to counter its lower rate of fire.
Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons.
Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%.
Fixed an C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert.
Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911.
Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role.
Increased the accuracy of the F2000 on the move to highlight its role as a mobile AR.
Increased the close range damage of the shotguns to give them a greater advantage vs slugs.
Slightly lowered the damage of the M60 to balance its accuracy advantage vs other LMG's.
Slightly lowered the damage of the MG3 at close range to balance it with other high rate of fire weapons.

I bought this back when it came out on sale for $30. Never played it cause it was through the EA Manager and was awful to get in to games with friends.
Now that I have it on steam, can I join on games with you guys as if it were tf2 or l4d? If so then I am more highly inclined to play this!

you have to use the in-game friends manager.
so you have to collect the "soldier names" of the friends you want to play with.
but once they are in that friends list, then you can join the game they are in with one push of a button.
does this game still do the respawning off of people no matter where they are in the map as long as they are in your squad?
if not, I might get back into it.

Clipp -- You can still spawn off of anyone in your squad. With the maps being so large, it would be rough to get rid of this feature. I guess they could increase the spawn rate of vehicles if necessary. The system definitely has its pros and cons. Places a lot of importance on keeping at least one guy in the squad alive.

how is this a bad feature? it's the best thing i could think of to emphasize teamplay and actually making it possible to stay together and play as a squad

Clip, this is exactly how i felt, coming from a bf2 & bf2142 competitive scene where you could spawn on the squad leader but just the squad leader to being able to spawn on ANYONE is a huge change. Allows for alot more action but its alot more reckless you dont have to have that one person making sure they stay alive as long as anyone is alive, this game is a faster moving game than either of the two i played competitvely tho.

I wish the BF games would do helicopters the way they were done in Desert Combat, very difficult to fly but once mastered were also very powerful. The desert combat method also gave a lot more control to the pilot, I miss it. :(

is the game like super green and greyed out on certain maps for everyone else too? I understand that they are trying to mimic the films of the era but damn, sure does make it harder to spot enemies.

i'm just too beast. unless I'm on a team of total fucking retards, then I just rage and get mad that I can't just carry a team to victory all the time....

btw i have been revived i love this game a ton. NAM and the original, doesnt matter its a shitload of fun
