Pf, I only had two hats when I crafted mine to get the modest pile o' hat.

Definitely worth it.

I always wait for 4 refined metal. Unless you're idling, 80+ items is a lot of hours to throw away if you get a dupe or a crap hat for a class you already have covered.

i finally crafted a hat! 3 refined metal and I got the soldiers stash!!!!! so i got lucky!

i just do 3 metal. I don't idle so it already takes me about a month and a few weeks to make a hat.

Course I already got the hat I wanted for soldier, and a hat for scout, so after I got those 2 out of the way (my main classes) i figured I'd just go random from here on out. Has worked pretty well so far, no dups yet.

I dont play soldier, ever. And I already have the stash and the pot. In hind sight I prolly should have crafted the stash and the beard together but oh well, I wont miss the helm at all.

Last time I went to on that site it was broken. And it's sorted by class, so I can see what items I can craft and what items I can't.

Earlier today I got the Pimp Hat for the demo woot, makes me wish I hadn't crafted the Glengarry a few weeks ago.

So the crafting system hates me....

A while back when they made it so you can craft camera beards into hats again, I crafted my two remaining beards only to get a duplicate tough guy toque. I already had 6 unique hats, so my chances of crafting a dupe was 6/38 (39 total hats - the camera beard itself).

Yesterday I figured I would craft my dupe toque with my fancy fedora because i already have the backbiter's billycock and I don't really play spy often. And what do I get? A duplicate Scotsman's Stovepipe. The chances of getting 2 duplicate hats was 6/38 x 5/37 = ~2.13%

Ok apparently team fortress doesnt hate me as much as I thought... I just found a stainless potwhich is the one i've been hoping to craft for the past few months lol. So now I have 3 refined metal and one scrap, and I think I'm going to save up medic items so I can craft a medic hat.
