I've known it for "fuck the world" a long time ago (pre/baby-internet) and it seems that recently it has become popular to use it as "for the win". I'm always confused when people say stuff like.

I always read it as "Wrench fuck the world" which obviously doesn't make any sense :) So I am slowly converting but it is a long process :).

anyone else experience something similar?

the one that has always bugged me is GG.....
usages:
-> well i'm out cya later all, gg (meaning good game)
-> wow gg moron you lost the game for us all (meaning good going)
I always have to think to myself whether someone is actually saying good game or trying to piss me off saying good going

by pre/baby internet I mean it was a abbreviation that existed before the internet. Like you could see graffiti with a burning earth and the letters FTW and stuff like that. I was meaning that the internet has turned it into "for the win" and I am still used to it being fuck the world.
